Before I entered graduate school, I was a programmer. This is not the most common career path for those earning a Psychology Ph.D. (but it should be).
The time I spend programming, however, has not really decreased all that much. Programming is useful everywhere. In order to help out my fellow grad students, I put together a very small course introducing the concept of programming. As most people around here use MATLAB, the course uses this as its language.
Anynome is a program, written in C, which is essentially a metronome. Unlike most metronome programs, however, it allows you specify an arbitrary time series as delays between beeps. Random, chaotic, sinusoidal, whatever.
